Ark Franklin Primary School 2018/19

‘Culture eats strategy for breakfast.’

What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

*Inherited a culture of low aspiration

*The second worst performing school in London on the combined measure of RWM

*All groups were underperforming

*Very poor reputation in the local community.

What actions did you take?

Established positive climate for learning via clearly articulated and modelled rituals and routines, enabling all to thrive not just survive in our dynamic world.

Relentless focus on quality first teaching via bespoke, coaching model and research-driven CPD, never losing sight of our core business: teaching and learning.

Culture of accountability for whole community, shared understanding that with rights come responsibilities for self and others.

Data-rich: underperforming or coasting pupils quickly identified and targeted.

Shared understanding that vulnerable groups do not need our sympathy, but the highest expectations, and the support to get there.

Developed a broad, rich, challenging curriculum, embellished with enriching experiences to build cultural capital; affording our children real equity and equality of opportunity.

What were the outcomes?

Above national on key measures.

Pupils: confident, curious, engaged learners who relish a challenge.

Most popular school in locality.
