Allen Edwards Primary School 2019/20
Focused interventions and support for all learners
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
Children starting school with low starting points. Establishing a means to provide rapid and sustained progress through focused interventions and support.
What actions did you take?
Through identifying needs and regular focused interventions, children are able to move their learning on at a much more rapid pace. Misconceptions and misunderstandings are quickly identified and through afternoon "pick-up" sessions and interventions, children are able to move their knowledge and understanding on and make good progress. Pupil progress meetings have enabled teachers to identify each child's need and develop intervention programmes, so children have the opportunities to move their learning on no matter their starting point.
What were the outcomes?
From low starting points children made outstanding progress. The majority of learners left school achieving the age-related expectations.
