Alexandra Primary School 2020/21
Aspire, Perform, Succeed is the motto for success at APS
What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?
APS is a three form primary in metropolitan area. 96% of children have English as an additional language. Developing vocabulary and enjoyment of reading is a priority.
What actions did you take?
- We have focused on reading, teaching phonics and developing our text based curriculum that promotes the love of reading.
- Through quality first teaching we have prioritised oracy and reading through to improving writing across the school.
- Professional development has focused on sharpening phonic teaching, language acquisition and broadening activities across the curriculum to support reading for meaning and enjoyment.
What were the outcomes?
Due to COVID19 we were able to target disadvantaged and vulnerable children for support.
