Tri-borough Alternative Provision (TBAP)

The Bridge Academy developed a training programme for teachers delivering MFL in the Alternative Provision context.

Languages For All

The project aimed to have an increasing number of pupils learning Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, French, Spanish, Italian and Polish by building an outstanding teaching and training of languages programme for teachers, in partnership with a mainstream language specialist school.. The project was delivered to 24 teachers in 7 schools. Findings revealed that teachers responded positively and were also able to apply this subject-specific methodology to other subjects to support alternative provision pupils. It has also created a 'language-learning' culture in the school as a whole. Pupil data showed a positive trend, for example the number of GCSEs achieved consistently rose during the project; this cannot be completely attributed to the LSEF project but anecdotal evidence supports positive response to MFL provision from both pupils and teachers.

Just like I would want to be taught and how I would teach our learners.
