Philosophy for Children

The Grafton Primary Cluster worked with Philosophy for Children (P4C) to provide motivating new skills to teachers.

The project aimed to enhance teachers' knowledge to improve a range of student skills, including independent thinking, oral communication and collaboration, and to smooth the primary to secondary transition by training teachers to use techniques of philosophical enquiry, teaching through dialogue and building networks between schools to support this method.. The project was delivered to 88 teachers in 10 schools. Findings show that the project had a positive impact on pupil attainment. 9 out of 10 participating schools chose to continue delivering the method after the end of the project.
