Let’s Think English and Maths

Professional development in Let’s Think (Cognitive Acceleration) pedagogy for teachers to improve pupils thinking skills and attainment in English and maths.

Let's Think

Let’s Think Maths and English focused on developing the following skills with pupils: questioning, collaborative learning, problem solving, independent learning, metacognition and challenge. Let’s Think tutors ran cross-school courses with teachers to: plan collaboratively, teach, and, reflect on shared practice in ‘live’ lessons. Peer-coaching programmes were developed for more experienced practitioners to then coach colleagues in the approach. The Maths course was delivered with years 2-4 and 5-9, and the English course ran for years 4-6 in KS2 and years 7-9 in KS3.

At project end, evidence showed strong impact on teacher confidence and skills, as well as pupil learning as measured through standardised tests and school assessment data.

The training has … vastly increased my confidence in maths teaching across the whole curriculum.
