Achievement for All London Primary Programme

London Primary Programme

The Achievement for All London primary programme supports 40 primary schools to accelerate the progress of pupils in literacy and numeracy, as well as improving wider outcomes such as attendance and behaviour.

An Achievement for All Coach works with School Champions (a nominated member of the SLT) to develop a whole school action plan covering leadership, teaching and learning, wider outcomes and opportunities and engaging with parents and carers. Schools identified two target groups of 15-20 pupils each that fit with the school’s priorities (e.g. low attaining pupils in receipt of FSM and those with SEND). Participating teachers also benefit from tailored maths and literacy teaching modules.

The project, which is due to complete later in 2016, will support teachers to have a greater awareness of research and good practice to improve the rates of progress in reading, writing and maths for their vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils. It will also develop teacher’s knowledge, understanding, practice and confidence in the teaching of maths, reading and writing across the curriculum.

All parents have been involved in sharing pupil’s aspirations.

The LSEF conference held in February 2016, reminded delegates of the importance of bespoke, high quality CPD, the need for schools to have access to an external coach and research impact usually taking 2 years.

The school has effectively planned from the introductory training, building Achievement for All aims and CPD into the staff appraisal system and SIP. They are acutely focused on improving the specialist knowledge of TAs and looking to the CPD materials to facilitate this.
