If you’re struggling to pay for broadband or mobile phone services, some providers offer cheaper tariffs (called social tariffs) for people who are claiming Universal Credit or other benefits.

Social tariffs

Some providers offer "social tariffs" which are only available to customers who receive certain government benefits.

Ofcom have a list of cheaper tariffs for broadband and other internet services for eligible households who might be struggling to afford their broadband or phone services.

You can find out if you are eligible for Universal Credit or other benefits. These aren’t only for people who are unemployed.

If you aren’t eligible for benefits or social tariffs, then the best avenue is to switch providers, or negotiate with your provider when your contract expires. Ofcom has a list of approved comparison schemes.
