Vanessa White
There is so much amazing music and creative talent coming out of London right now and that has been the case for so many years. So much of that talent is from phenomenal women in the industry as both performers and also behind the scenes, who really help to drive the scene forward and keep it vibrant and exciting.
As a Londoner, I’m proud to support the Sounds Like London campaign and celebrate all of the excellent women in music and to help to inspire the next generation of emerging talent to pursue careers in the music industry.
About Vanessa
Formerly part of one of the UK’s biggest girl groups, The Saturdays, the British-Filipino music artist Vanessa White is currently riding the wave of the serious buzz she has created with her solo music – her captivating debut solo EP ‘Chapter One’ and last year’s hotly anticipated ‘Chapter Two’ EP, which have earned her rave reviews from the likes of i-D, Hunger, PAPER and The FADER.
Launched with the track ‘Running Wild’ and produced by the dynamic LongLivThePlug (aka music artist Ebenezer), the vibrant track mixes urgent hip-hop and future R&B beats with Vanessa’s sublimely soulful vocal and brilliantly showcases her sharp song-writing talent.
Shooting to the top of iTunes’ bestselling R&B pre-order chart and the top 10 of the general bestselling pre-order chart in the lead-up to its release, Vanessa continued to make her trailblazing assault on the music scene with the release of ‘Chapter Two'. Adding to ‘Running Wild’ and the Mkulu produced ‘Good Good’, with stunning stripped-back versions of both tracks, the EP also features the Ads Valu produced ‘Rotation’ and ‘Pressure’ and the Chloe Martini produced ‘Trust Me’, which see Vanessa and taking things to the next level with her own unique take on addictive R&B melodies.
Over the past 2 years, Vanessa has been putting in the hours in the studio working with a host of talented and in-demand producers and musicians, including the likes of PRGRSN, Wizzy Wow, Shakka, Musicman Ty (Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, P Diddy) and Snakehips. She has also been collaborating with innovative creatives such as Rob Heppell (Crystal Fighters, New Pharaohs, Nowness), Charlotte Rutherford (PAPER, NYLON, Vogue) and Stephanie Sian Smith (FKA Twigs, Blood Orange, House of Holland).
Attracting support from the world of fashion and appearing across respected style and culture bibles, including PAPER, Vogue, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, CLASH and ES Magazine, Vanessa continues to prove why her star is so rapidly on the rise!
