Melody Kane
When I first started performing I often heard the phrase “she’s a good DJ – for a girl”. Well thankfully I don’t hear that any more.
I moved to London 10 years ago to pursue my dreams and this wonderful city has not disappointed me.
About Melody
Melody Kane has gained a solid reputation amongst her peers with the music industry as bring one of the most professional, talented and focussed female DJs in the UK. She is an on-air personalty and mix show DJ for BBC Radio 1Xtra and can be seem performing at all major clubs and festivals across the UK and abroad.
Melody started DJing in her home town of Brighton. After a couple of years earning a steady following on the club circuit, she was invited to join the city's community radio station and this where Melody got a taste of where she wanted to take her career, but she knew that also meant moving to the capital. So in 2010 Melody relocated to Brixton, South London.
Her passionate DJ performances became the talk of the city and soon she started to feature on both community and pirate stations, but had her heart set on the BBC. So when an opportunity came up to make a special guest mix, she jumped at the chance.
Fast forward a few years and Melody is now a regular host on BBC Radio 1Xtra, where her unique blend of being both an on-air personality and a killer club DJ with an infectious energy resulted in her being given her own show in January 2018. Melody brings the 1Xtra listeners her own take on all that's good in the world of music, focussing on new artists from around the globe as well as giving a unique showcase to homegrown artists from across the UK.
