Affordable housing is one of the most pressing issues facing Londoners.

For a growing number of people private ownership is now unaffordable, which has led to an increasing number of Londoners living in private rentals.

The Mayor’s affordable homes programme has different products, including social rentals and shared ownership homes. Under this programme, the Mayor aims to build 116,000 new affordable homes by 2022.

The London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will tomorrow assess the value for money of the Mayor’s housing programme, with a focus on the Mayor’s £4.8 billion investment in affordable housing.

The guests are:

  • Rickardo Hyatt, Assistant Director, Housing, GLA
  • Francesca Lewis, Housing Policy Manager, GLA
  • Helen Evans, Chair of G15, group representing largest Housing Associations (HAs)
  • Kath Scanlon, Assistant Professorial Research Fellow, LSE London
  • Ian Mulheirn, Executive Director, Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and former Director of consulting at Oxford Economics

The meeting will take place on Thursday, 26 September at 10.00am in The Chamber, at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE via webcast or on our YouTube channel.
