The GLA Group spends around £9.5 billion on its procurement activities every year. The scale and diversity of its buying power presents considerable opportunities for effective partnership working, to achieve value for money and encourage innovative approaches.
Tomorrow, the GLA Oversight Committee will discuss the current procurement processes in place for the GLA Group, with regards to the selection process of providers, value for money and broader issues of accountability, auditing and transparency. The investigation is an opportunity to draw out wider lessons from past contractual agreements and consider if more rigorous processes are needed. The meeting will focus on six case study procurements that fall into the following three broad categories.
TfL Projects
- Silvertown Tunnel
- The Garden Bridge
- Crossrail Bond Street
Royal Docks
- Royal Albert Dock
- Silvertown Quays
LLDC
- East Bank
The guests are:
- Jonathan Patrick, Chief Procurement Officer, TfL
- Philip Hewson, Head of Strategy and Performance, Procurement and Supply Chain, TfL
- David Rowe, Head of Silvertown Tunnel Sponsorship, TfL

- Gerry Murphy, Executive Director of Financial, Commercial and Corporate Services, LLDC
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 2 November 2021 from 10am, in the Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
