How will the Mayor pay for his manifesto promises?

In July, the Mayor’s 2022-23 Budget Guidance was published. It provides the framework and parameters for the Greater London Authority (GLA) Group Budget setting process for the next financial year.

The Mayor’s manifesto for 2021-2024 includes almost 250 commitments, many of which will have financial impacts for the GLA and will need to be factored into the 2022-23 budget process.

The Assembly has raised concerns about the scale and cost of the delivery of the manifesto commitments, particularly in the context of a shorter term - three years.

Tomorrow, the Budget and Performance Committee will meet to discuss the Mayor’s Budget Guidance, the impact of COVID-19 on the GLA’s finances, funding changes and more.

The guests are:

  • Mary Harpley, Chief Officer, Greater London Authority
  • David Bellamy, Chief of Staff, Greater London Authority
  • Richard Watts, Deputy Chief of Staff, Greater London Authority
  • David Gallie, Executive Director of Resources, Greater London Authority
  • Enver Enver, Assistant Director, Group Finance and Performance, Greater London Authority

The meeting will take place on Thursday, 23rd September 2021 from 10am in the Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend. The meeting can also be watched live here.
