How have businesses been affected by COVID-19?

A view of the Shard, London
Created on
16 June 2020

The measures introduced to reduce the spread of COVID-19 meant businesses across London have had to close their doors. As we move to the new phase of lockdown, how has COVID-19 impacted businesses across the capital? And what more can be done to support businesses over the coming weeks and months ahead?

The Economy Committee will tomorrow look at the impact of COVID-19 and the lockdown on businesses across London, with focus on the hospitality, tourism, and cultural and creative sectors.

The guests are:

  • Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor for Business
  • Justine Simons, OBE, Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries
  • Richard Burge, Chief Executive, London Chamber of Commerce and Industry
  • Caroline Julian, Director of Policies and Programmes, Creative Industries Federation
  • Helen Clark Bell, CEO, Love Wimbledon Business Improvement District
  • Laura Citron, CEO, London & Partners
  • Bernard Donoghue, Director, Association of Leading Visitor Attractions
  • Rowena Howie, London Policy Chair, The Federation of Small Businesses
  • Kate Nicholls, Chief Executive, UK Hospitality
  • David Sheen, Public Affairs Director, UK Hospitality

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 17 June 2020 from 2pm. In line with government advice, this meeting will take place virtually.
