City Hall relocation scrutinised

City Hall
Created on
22 March 2022

Full occupation of the new City Hall at Royal Docks was originally scheduled for October 2021.

The Mayor and London Assembly took permanent residence in the new building this week – a delay of five months.

The GLA Oversight Committee will tomorrow consider the effectiveness of the management and delivery of the programme to relocate City Hall, with a focus on:

  • The management and delivery of the capital programme
  • The impact on Londoners, particularly residents of Newham and Southwark
  • The impact on the organisation and staff
  • The impact on the London Assembly and effective democracy in London
  • The costs of the project and the savings that will be delivered through the relocation to the GLA Group over five years
  • The rationale for the decision and whether this is still valid

The guests are:

  • Mary Harpley, Chief Officer, Greater London Authority (GLA)
  • Rickardo Hyatt, Executive Director of Housing and Land, GLA
  • Milly Kiely-Horn, Programme Director, City Hall Relocation, GLA
  • Steve Sheasby, Senior Programme Manager, City Hall Relocation, GLA
  • Simon Grinter, Head of Facilities Management, GLA

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 23 March from 2:00pm, in The Chamber, new City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube
