Assembly probes proposals for 92 new GLA staff

The Greater London Authority (GLA) budget, presented to the London Assembly on 21 November 2018, contains proposals for up to an additional 92 permanent GLA posts.

The Chief Officer will consult the London Assembly tomorrow on 33 of the proposals. Staff are allocated to the following areas:

· 18 posts in Housing & Land Directorate related to the development, in partnership with Newham Council, of the Royal Docks

· 10 posts in the Technology Group

· 5 posts in the Growth, Infrastructure & Connectivity Unit

The following proposals will be discussed in 2019:

· 9 posts in the London Watchkeeper service

· Up to 29 further posts related to affordable housing delivery and development of land

· Up to 8 posts associated with the Chief Officer’s transformation funding

· 4 posts in the HR team

· Proposals to convert a number of fixed term posts to permanent posts will be brought to the Committee for consultation at its 27 February 2019 meeting.

The GLA Oversight Committee meets tomorrow to consider some of these proposals. The following guests will appear:

  • Mary Harpley, Chief Officer of the GLA
  • David Lunts, Executive Director Housing & Land, GLA
  • David Munn, Head of Technology, GLA
  • Jeremy Skinner, Interim Assistant Director Intelligence & Analysis, GLA
  • Charmaine de Souza, Assistant Director - Human Resources and Organisational Development, GLA

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 11th December from 3.30pm in Committee Room 5, at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
