In response to recent announcements surrounding the delay to the Crossrail project, Caroline Pidgeon MBE AM, Chair of the London Assembly Transport Committee said:
“Meg Hillier MP, Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, has requested the National Audit Office launch an enquiry into the Crossrail delay. This surrounds the Crossrail project with further question marks.
“It seems that others are seeing precisely what the Assembly has been saying for the past month – something is awry.
“We find comments from the Deputy Mayor for Transport, Heidi Alexander, suggesting the Assembly criticisms were ‘nonsense’ disrespectful, particularly considering the amount of public money that is being ploughed into this delayed project.
“Our job is to protect the pockets of Londoners and to highlight where there is bad practice, or something is just not right. This request from the Chair of PAC adds to our own calls for greater transparency and public information on Crossrail.”
