Make Your (Land) Mark our new public art project by Hanna Benihoud Studio and Produce UK is taking shape, with the first of the artworks beginning to appear on billboards, noticeboards and hoardings across the Old Oak and Park Royal area with more being added in the coming months.

The Once Upon A Time poster campaign, a street exhibition of 15 different posters designed by Hanna Benihoud Studio and local young designer Ava Pevsner are inspired by stories captured from local residents and school children.

Look out for these in North Action Station, Park Royal Station and Stone Bridge Park Station, with more to come. Can you recognise your story?

Can you feel the love? Local artist Zakee Shariff’s ‘Love portal’ billboard on Scrubs Lane will be up until the 22 September and will be part of this year’s London Design Festival. Zakee wanted her artwork to hold a potent, impactful message, particularly during a time when people are going through much turbulence and change.

Over the rest of this year the billboard will feature two more local artists.

All the artworks are being designed in partnership with the people who live, work, and enjoy the area. To get involved, please email [email protected].

Meet the team

We have appointed two artistic practices to deliver the Make Your (Land) Mark project:

Youth Land Mark Champions

Hanna Benihoud Studio and Produce UK have appointed three local people to work alongside them for the duration of this project.

Ava Pevsner - Poster Designer, Land Mark Champion

Ava is an Old Oak resident and recent architecture graduate from Oxford Brooks. She has established a great design and illustration style which she is showcasing in her work alongside Hanna and Produce UK in the design of a fantastical poster campaign to be featured in an array of locations across Old Oak and Park Royal. The “Once Upon A Time…' posters depict characters and stories collected from local people. Look out for them in the local area.

Louis Earle - Story Teller, Land Mark Champion

Louis is a local script writer and editor who is also developing a career in videography and film production. He joins the Make Your Land Mark team to tell the story of the project through film and photography as it unfolds. Do say hi if you see him on the streets capturing the art installations and look out for the finished short film which will be featured here later this year.

Louis found this exciting position through The Forge@ParkRoyal, OPDC’s free, collaborative employment and business support service. If you are a Park Royal resident or live in Brent, Ealing or Hammersmith & Fulham and are looking for work, contact Billy Seago, The Forge@ParkRoyal Manager for information on how we can help you back to work.

Pavan Kaur Sian - Maker In The Making, Land Mark Champion

Brought up locally, Pavan is a recent architecture graduate from Glasgow School of Art . She has a keen curiosity for spatial design and an understanding of a wide range of materials. Pavan has joined Hanna and Produce UK in the creation of a series of 2D and 3D sculptures that will appear along the Grand Union Canal.

Timi McEwen - Story Teller, Land Mark Champion

Timi joined at the beginning of the Make Your Land Mark project. She is a local aspiring documentary film maker who has since gone on to be offered an amazing job in media in Liverpool. Timi helped with the community engagement we delivered to support the graphic rewilding mural on the Atlas Road hoarding, the canal side interventions, working in particular with Garden Studios and collecting local stories for our poster campaign. We're excited to see her develop her career in the industry and wish her all the very best.

Make Your Landmark and all Great Place Scheme projects form part of, In the Making, a collection of activities that Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) are delivering to shine a light on the positive changes happening now as part of this once-in-a-lifetime regeneration opportunity, delivering everyday improvements with local communities.

The Great Place Scheme has been supported by the Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
