Food banks in our capital are struggling to provide enough support to those who desperately need it. Can you volunteer your time to support them this winter?

The cost of living crisis is hitting Londoners hard—and could significantly worsen over the course of the colder winter months.

Food banks are struggling to cope with rising need amidst a fall in donations, insufficient supplies from supermarkets, and overstretched teams. Some have needed to reduce the level of support they provide and are unsure whether they can continue to operate through the winter.

The Mayor continues to call on the Government to provide greater support to everyone affected by the cost of living crisis, but there are ways you can help too.

Volunteer to help London's food banks

If you’re able to, volunteer your time to help food banks to support Londoners most in need this winter.

There are a range of organisations looking for volunteers across London, with a variety of roles. Volunteering could include helping a few hours a week or fortnight, and your help can make a real difference.

Organisations supporting Londoners have said that increasing the number of volunteers is one of the best ways to help ensure they can keep providing the support that many Londoners are needing this winter.

What else can I do?

If you’re able to, consider donating to support food aid organisations that work across London.
