Willesden Junction Station Public Realm

The OPDC are carrying out short-term projects to improve the character and identity of the area around Willesden Junction station. These improvements will benefit businesses and residents – existing and new.

Funding has been secured from the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund Round 1 <link to Good Growth press release> to deliver these improvements. An initial study by spatial design agency, 5th Studio, has outlined a series of activities which OPDC are now progressing.

The main objective of these improvement works is to deliver immediate benefits for existing communities ahead of the wider long-term planned regeneration and development of Old Oak and Park Royal.

This will be achieved through:

  • Enhancing the station’s connections to Old Oak and Harlesden town centre
  • Celebrating local heritage to enhance local pride and identity
  • Improving unwelcoming environments

Improvements will include signposting, public seating, better use of green spaces and public art installations. A lead artist has been appointed to assist the designers and develop a plan for the public art in the area.
