Mayoral Decisions and a Deputy Mayor under scrutiny

The Mayor is in the process of adopting a new governance approach in which he will set ‘mandates’ which commission the major programmes the Greater London Authority (GLA) will carry out. The resulting Programme Delivery Plans are then expected to be published as Mayoral Decisions in early 2025.  As part of normal business, the Mayor has published a number of Mayoral Decisions since October 2024, these are available on the GLA website here.

The GLA Oversight Committee will discuss the objective, process and content of the mandates with the Mayor’s senior officials. It will also take the opportunity to ask about the process and expected outcomes of a selected number of recent Mayoral Decisions. The guests are:

  • Richard Watts, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Mayor of London
  • Ayo Akande, Assistant Director Skills and Employment – Delivery, GLA

After that, the Committee will question the Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries about her role, which covers major projects including transforming the East Bank in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park into a new £1 billion culture and education district. The guest is:

  • Justine Simons OBE, Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries

Other guests include:

  • Nicole Valentinuzzi - Assistant Director of External Relations, GLA
  • David Holley - Head of Events for London, GLA

The meeting will take place on Wednesday 18 December from 2pm, in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
