Thames Water and the future of London’s waters

Environment Committee – The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am

Around 40 million tonnes of raw, untreated sewage is currently discharged into the Thames every year. What work is Thames Water undertaking to reduce this figure and keep London’s iconic River Thames clean and safe to use?

The London Assembly Environment Committee will meet for the first of two meetings investigating London’s waters, looking at pollution, the long-term water supply available in London and any risks associated with the two issues. Thames Water will also be questioned on the recent issues regarding their financial position and long-term sustainability.

The meeting will also include an update on Solar Together London, with delivery partner for the scheme, iChoosr, to be questioned over the significant issues Green Energy Together UK (GET UK) has caused Londoners.

Mayor’s 2022/23 budget – what was the true cost?

Budget and Performance Committee – The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am

The Mayor oversaw a total budget of £20 billion in 2022/23, but did the budget deliver as expected, and how does any underspend or overspend in different areas effect planning for future budgets?

The London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will meet to investigate the delivery of the Mayors’ 2022/23 budget, reasons behind key variances between budgeted and actual income and expenditure, and assess the impacts these have for delivery of the 2023-24 budget.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The GLA Oversight Committee will meet to examine the GLA Workforce Report, and  consider the findings from The Equal Group Independent Review into the experiences of Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority staff at the GLA, and examine the actions that the GLA is taking in response to this review.

Outer London Transport

Transport Committee – The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am

Outer London transport links vary from borough to borough, with some areas, such as Bexley and Kingston, only served by bus and National Rail services, and are not serviced by underground or overground trains.

The London Assembly Transport Committee will meet, for the first of two meetings, to investigate the challenges faced by residents in outer London, including plans to improve transport links, and what the Mayor is doing to encourage other forms of transport other than private car, with the ULEZ set to expand to outer London in August.
