1) How much of the Mayor's budget was spent on them? And how much did Thames Water pay?
2) What is the longest amount of time a fountain was broken last year?
3) How many fountains were broken in August 2023?

Q1) How much of the Mayor's budget was spent on them? And how much did Thames Water pay?
Response: The GLA and Thames Water entered into a partnership and share the costs of the water fountains and their installation. The water fountains were purchased through a procurement process led by Thames Water. The fountain unit costs are commercially sensitive.
The fountain installation cost varies on a site-by-site basis depending on proximity to a water main, reinstatement requirements, underground obstructions and other local factors. On average, the GLA has contributed between £5,000-£5,200 towards each fountain and their installation. The GLA does not hold a record of Thames Water costs.
Q2 & 3) What is the longest amount of time a fountain was broken last year? How many fountains were broken in August 2023?
Response: As per the agreement with the GLA, Thames Water own the assets (water fountains) and fund the long-term maintenance and cleaning of the fountains for at least 25 years. The GLA is not responsible for any maintenance or repairs to water fountains and does not hold records of when a fountain has been broken and repaired.
