Our response

The GLA is administering three Building Safety funding schemes on behalf of government; Social Sector ACM Cladding Remediation Fund, Private Sector ACM Cladding Remediation Fund and Building Safety Fund.

The GLA’s role is to administer these funding programmes on behalf of government in London. All decisions regarding the scope and design of these funds, including eligibility and application approvals, are carried out by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

Please note as a delivery partner for the funds the GLA are not involved in assessing the cladding schemes on buildings. Buildings are transferred to the GLA once the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government have assessed buildings and declared them eligible to apply for funding. Therefore, our data on the original cladding systems of buildings is limited.

Building Safety Fund
  1. There are 29 applications in the Building Safety Fund with reference to either the existing external wall prior to remediation or to the replacement materials funded by remediation funding schemes, there is within our monitoring information reference to ‘Trespa’ and/or ‘Trespa HPL’ and/or ‘HPL’ as the external wall system.
  2. Of the above, £112,517,137 has been approved for funding. This figure represents a mixture of funding used for buildings which had ‘Trespa’ and/or ‘Trespa HPL’ and/or ‘HPL’ as the external wall system in their eligibility monitoring information, and buildings which had these descriptions within monitoring information describing the replacement system funded via the remediation fund.
  3. All BSF, PSCRF and SSCRF buildings are 18m and above.
Private Sector Cladding Remediation Fund
  1. For the PSCRF fund information regarding cladding systems is not stored on a central database but rather on individual eligibility statements which require manual review for all buildings in the PSCRF. We have estimated that it would take at least 18 hours of work to comply with your request as a significant amount of time would be needed. We have therefore refused this request under the cost limit provisions of section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act and this letter therefore constitutes a refusal notice under section 17(1) of the Act.
  2. As above
  3. All BSF, PSCRF and SSCRF buildings are 18m and above.
