The Mayor travelled to New York between 23-26 September 2024 for a series of meetings and events with global leaders that promoted London as a leading destination for business, tourism and sport.
His visit coincided with the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where business, cultural and political leaders gather to address global issues such as driving economic prosperity and tackling climate change.
In addition to visiting in his role as Mayor of London, the Mayor was also there as co-Chair of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group in order to emphasise the pivotal role that C40 cities around the world are playing in leading ambitious climate action.
Further information about the visit can be found at https://www.london.gov.uk/%20Mayor%20visits%20New%20York%20to%20promote%20London%20as%20leading%20destination%20for%20business%2C%20tourism%20and%20sport
- The cost paid for hotel rooms by the GLA was £9,060, which is reflective of the very high demand for hotel rooms in New York when the UN General Assembly is in session.
The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group booked and paid for the hotel of the Mayor and some of the delegation. These costs will be declared in the usual way in accordance with the GLA’s gifts and hospitality policy.
- Due to the very high demand for hotel rooms in New York when the UN General Assembly is in session, the delegation was booked into three different hotels. These were the NH Collection, Hilton Garden Inn, and the Aura Hotel.
