FOI - Mayor's PR budget [Nov 2021]

Key information

Request reference number: MGLA181021-5684

Date of response:

Summary of request

You requested:

By what percentage has the Mayor’s PR budget increased this year in
comparison to last year?

Our response is as follows:

The GLA has a duty to keep Londoners informed and engaged in the work of the Mayor of London and the London Assembly.

The central marketing budget, introduced in 2017, allows the GLA to communicate the work and priorities of the Mayor of London and the London Assembly in an integrated, cost-effective and impactful way. In the last year, this budget has been utilised to deliver critical communications around COVID-19, in addition to other vital information around key issues such as the environment and safety.

This budget has decreased by 30 percent from £1,000,000 to £700,000 compared to last year, to reflect the current economic challenges London faces since the global pandemic.

There is no PR budget and therefore no PR costs have increased.
