Summary of request
Your request
- Please provide information about all the contracts your local authority has commissioned to deliver domestic abuse services in 2023-24.
- If your local authority delivers any in-house domestic abuse services (for example, a service delivered directly by staff employed by the local authority and not contracted to another organisation), provide information about these in-house services.
- Provide information about the domestic abuse contracts your local authority commissions to run refuge and safe accommodation for survivors of domestic abuse in your area in 2023-24.
- Looking at your total current commissioned spend on domestic abuse provision for 2023-24, is it higher or lower or the same as when you last commissioned domestic abuse provision?
Our response
Please find below the information we hold with regard to the current safe accommodation services we commission.
Question 1
Please see our responses to question 2 for this information.
Question 2
We do not deliver any in-house domestic abuse services.
Question 3
Please see the attached information
The GLA funds a number of safe accommodation services for survivors of domestic abuse through two workstreams.
The services set out in the attached Tables 1 and 2 have been commissioned in 2023-24 as part of the GLA’s statutory duty under Part 4 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 to support survivors of domestic abuse survivors in safe accommodation.
Table 1 sets out the services provided through continuation grants. In 2022-23, we
grant-funded 20 London boroughs and 10 service providers to enable them to continue
services that were originally funded by DLUHC in 2020-21. We have continued to fund
these services in 2023-24, as well as funding two new grants in Westminster and Camden
to continue the Respite Rooms programmes. All grants are funded from April 2023 to
March 2024.
Table 2 sets out the services that have been called off from the GLA’s commissioning framework of service providers that was procured in 2021-22. All contracts are those that have been extended from 2022-23 and are now funded until 2023-24 financial year.
The services set out in Table 3 are provided through the Mayor’s Move On Programme, which provides both accommodation and support for domestic abuse survivors.
Question 4
I can confirm that the total commissioned spend on domestic abuse provision so far is broadly consistent with the amount spent in 2022-23. However a further funding round is due to be launched imminently, meaning that the total spend by the end of the year will mean the total is higher.
If you have any further questions relating to this matter, please contact the GLA, quoting reference MGLA260623-0600.
