Our response
Commission Members are entitled to be reimbursed, in accordance with the GLA’s Expenses and Benefits Framework, for travel and other expenses reasonably incurred in performing their role with the Commission.
To date, no Commission members have claimed expense payments for their role with the Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm.
The application pack outlined the GLA’s commitment to an inclusive structure and ensuring that individuals working as independent practitioners or in small civil society organisations or charities can take part with financial support. However, to date, none of the commissioners have applied for any support.
Please see our response to question 2 of your request here.
Further to your request to itemise, this is broken down as follows:
Members of the Commission were recruited through an open application process. They include a range of leaders with expertise across arts, architecture, community engagement and business sectors.
The role of the members of the Commission is to steer the delivery of the Mayor’s Commission objectives by providing their expertise and guidance; listening and responding to a wide range of input from London’s communities; and advocating for the importance of diversity of representation in London’s public realm.
The Commissioners have attended roundtables, listened to other experts and Londoners with a range of lived experiences, and brought their own personal and professional expertise to develop the work of the Commission.
The Commissioners received social media training on protecting themselves from online abuse from an award-winning UK charity working to end online abuse and champion digital citizenship, which has a focus on black women and marginalised people. The Commissioners have received no other formal advice.
