Date of response:

Summary of request

Your request

For financial years 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23:

How much has been paid annually to private housing companies for damage
done by homeless people or rough sleepers in emergency accommodation?

Provide information on the damage done, if this is held. For example, damage reports or incident reports provided by the housing companies along with the invoice for any damage.

Our response

We do not hold information within the scope of your request in the format you have
requested.

The cost information that we hold related hotels used to provide emergency
accommodation for people sleeping rough in response to the Covid-19 pandemic is inclusive of routine maintenance, emergency repairs, contractor costs, as well as general ‘wear and tear’, given the use of the hotels for the client group over long periods (2+ years in many cases).

The costs are not necessarily related to people staying at the hotel causing damage to the
accommodation, therefore would not constitute damages done by homeless people or rough sleepers as stated in the request.

If you have any further questions relating to this matter, please contact us, quoting
reference MGLA030223-9117.
