Hi all,

While the Mayor doesn’t think he is conflicted, for the avoidance of controversy he would like to delegate this decision to Jules.

Thanks all,

Richard

Richard Watts
Deputy Chief of Staff

MAYOR OF LONDON
City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, London E16 1ZE

On 1 November 2021 the Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, acting under delegated authority, considered a report in relation to planning applications made to Merton Council and Wandsworth Council for development at Wimbledon Park Golf Club (references 21/P2900 and 2021/3609 respectively). All items on the agenda for the Mayor’s meeting on 1 November 2021 were delegated to the Deputy Mayor. A copy of the GLA ‘stage 1’ planning report which represents the Deputy Mayor’s comments on the applications is available to download here: Have Your Say Today - Home Park Road Planning Application (london.gov.uk). These are initial comments on the applications, and do not represent a decision.

As you are aware, on 26 October 2023, Merton Council resolved to approve the application at planning committee. Wandsworth subsequently resolved to refuse the application at their committee on the 21 November 2023.

On 22 January 2024, the Deputy Mayor considered the applications at Stage 2 and directed (under the powers conferred by Section 2A of the 1990 Act) that the Deputy Mayor will act as the local planning authority for the purposes of determining the above planning application 21/P2900 (if applicable).

The Deputy Mayor will hold a Public Hearing (usually at City Hall) before making a decision. Anyone who commented on the application, will receive an email/letter from us at least 21 days in advance of the Hearing and will be provided with details on the Hearing along with the opportunity to register to speak at the Hearing should they wish to do so. His decision on this case will be made available on the public register here: https://planapps.london.gov.uk/planningapps/21-P2900 you can also leave comments here, if you wish to do so.
