Summary of request
Your request
1. How much did Sadiq pay Mr Justice Swift to approve his ULEZ scam?
2. How many cameras are being installed to support ULEZ?
3. All locations of ULEZ cameras.
4. How many families will be struggling due to people unable to afford this scam?
Our response
Neither the Mayor nor the GLA paid any sum of money to Mr Justice Swift in relation to the
Judicial Review of the London-wide ULEZ expansion.
Transport for London (TfL) expect that c.2750 new Automatic Number Plate Recognition
cameras will be needed to operate the expanded London-wide ULEZ.
The GLA does not hold information regarding the locations of ULEZ cameras. TfL is the Mayor's transport authority and is responsible for implementing the Mayor's Transport Strategy, and for the day-to-day operational running of transport services, including the ongoing operation of road user charging schemes such as the ULEZ.
4. How many family's will be struggling due to people unable to afford this scam
An Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) of the London-wide ULEZ proposals was conducted by independent consultants Jacobs Ltd and assessed potential health, environment, equality, and economic impacts of the scheme consultation proposals on different groups.
Only drivers of vehicles that do not meet the ULEZ standards need to pay the £12.50 daily
charge. 90 per cent of cars seen driving in outer London on average day meet the ULEZ
standards meaning their drivers will not need to pay. Additionally, around half of London
households do not own a car.
For those with non-compliant cars, the Mayor and TfL are supporting Londoners with a £160m scrappage scheme, extending existing grace periods, introducing new grace periods for disabled people who may find it more difficult to adapt to the scheme and improving the bus network in outer London to provide more alternatives to vehicle use. Since 21 August 2023, all Londoners with an eligible non-compliant car or motorcycle have been eligible to apply for a grant of £2,000 (or £1,000 for a motorcycle) to scrap their vehicle.
