DIGITAL INFORMATION GATEWAY VOLUNTEER

What will I be doing?

• Role Purpose. To provide information and signposting to older people, their relatives and their carers by telephone and personal contact at the Age UK Bexley office.
• Main duties and Responsibilities. Offer advice to clients in person or by telephone. Inform people about services that may be available to them and how to access them, including Age UK Bexley services: and where appropriate to refer people to other agencies and sources of help. Maintain statistical and case records using our computerized record management system. We will need a willingness to attend identified training and quarterly team meetings.
• Knowledge, skills and abilities:. A willingness and ability to participate in mandatory training sessions and attend regular update meetings as and when required. A genuine interest and concern for older people. A willingness and ability to work as part of a team. Knowledge or awareness of issues affecting older people and their carers.

What impact will this have?

• Supporting older people to feel less isolated.
• Giving support to older people in the borough of Bexley.
• Helping older people join our classes and groups so they can keep fit and active.
• Helping older people to access day care and nail cutting services in Bexley.

Commitment

• We need volunteers to support our Information on the following days and times. Monday to Friday Mornings 10am -1pm and Afternoons 1-4 from our office in Belvedere.
• We would also like to recruit volunteers who can cover sickness or absence sometimes at short notice.

What else do I need to know?

• This charity takes the safety of those that use and deliver its services very seriously. We work hard to ensure all risk management and infection control measures (Covid or non-Covid) are robust and in place across all our services. Where there are concerns in relation to this commitment the charity encourages its staff and volunteers to raise any issues with its managers, trustees and commissioners. The charity is following government guidelines in relation to Covid 19 closely and where appropriate regular testing maybe required.

• All training can be used for future CPD.
