Tricycle Theatre: Story Lab

Tricycle Theatre aimed to deliver a programme to local primary schools to raise attainment in English and in particular, writing, the project focused on KS2 students. The project delivered in five primary schools to develop teacher’s subject knowledge and confidence in writing composition and drama to drive up literacy in KS2.

Seminar and classroom based CPD led by professional writers was integrated with lessons in storytelling and writing, Pupils’ writing was also adapted for the Tricycle Theatre stage. Improvements in teachers’ confidence was supported through opportunities to test ideas and implement new learning alongside peers in teacher-only workshops led by the project.

Teachers unanimously reported that the two full days of training provided by the theatre was invaluable to their development of subject knowledge.
