Baseball Bats

Key information

Request reference number: 151

Date of response:

Summary of request

Dear Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime,

My question is in regards to how many baseball/softball bats (metal, wooden, etc.) have been confiscated by the police, are sitting in storage or awaiting destruction from 2011 to present.

The reason I ask is that I work with a number of volunteer baseball and softball sports clubs, and charities including BSUK within the UK who this sports equipment could be donated to. The equipment could help untold numbers, it could be recycled rather than destroyed and save money spent on equipment which could instead be used to help in youth sports programmes and to rehabilitate people through sports.

In addition to the request on statistics, I would also ask who to contact about redistribution this sports equipment, not just in London but in boroughs across the UK.

Looking forward to hearing back from you,
