Volunteer roles

ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships London 2026 

This page provides an overview of the functional areas and some of the volunteer roles available at the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships London 2026, in collaboration with Team London Volunteering.

Airport Meet and Greet  

In this role, you’ll be meeting international athletes and officials at London airports, providing a friendly welcome and ensuring they find their onward transportation. You’ll be setting the tone for all our international guests and ensuring they feel welcome in London from the moment they arrive.   

Station Meet and Greet 

In this role, you’ll support ITTF London 2026 staff in ensuring that athletes and officials staying in the official championship accommodation have a successful experience navigating local transport. You’ll be based at key stations to help our international guests get to and from their accommodation with a friendly and knowledgeable smile.  

Hotel Welcome Team  

You’ll be supporting the ITTF London 2026 staff in welcoming athletes and officials staying in the official championship accommodation.  Your role will involve supporting check-in, providing information about the championships and the city to guests. You’ll be working with ITTF London 2026 staff to resolve any issues and ensure the needs of teams are met efficiently and professionally.  

Accreditation Support  

You’ll be supporting the ITTF London 2026 team to distribute the hundreds of passes required for athletes, officials, media and staff to access all the venues securely. For many, you’ll be their first point of contact with the Championships as they start their roles. You’ll support the printing, processing, and distribution of passes, as well as provide top-level customer service.   

Venue Operations Assistant 

This role is essential to the efficient operation of the Championships by providing support to the core ITTF London 2026 delivery team in operating the various venues across the Championships. You’ll work alongside Event Operations, supporting athletes and officials to ensure a smooth delivery throughout the venues. 

Fan Zone Activator   

As a Fan Zone Activator, you’ll be helping to drive the excitement of the championships by providing fans with an opportunity to get involved and create lasting memories. From VR experiences, supporter activations, robots, to fan matches, you’ll be there to ensure everyone has a fantastic experience every day. This role is excellent for anyone who enjoys interacting with the public and being proactive about engagement.

Media assistant   

Based within the Media Centre, you support the ITTF London 2026 teams in getting the action out via national and international media. You’ll be supporting athlete interviews, coordinating photographers and assisting the media to ensure they can report all the stories from the championships. This role is ideal for those with an interest in journalism, communications, or media. A calm, courteous manner and a willingness to operate in a fast-paced environment are key. 

Training Hall Assistant  

In this role, you’ll be supporting the Training Hall Managers to maintain top-level facilities for athletes to warm up, practice and get in the zone ahead of competition. You’ll help with the build and maintenance of the training hall, ensuring it is already in top shape for athletes, as well as supporting athletes and officials with their needs on the day.   

Field of Play Assistant  

In this role, you have a unique position right at the heart of the action. You’ll be supporting the Field of Play Managers, making sure every event runs smoothly, meets International Federation Regulations, and is a great experience for athletes, officials and fans.  

Spectator services  

In this role, you’ll be the friendly face of ITTF London 2026 across the competition venues. You’ll be key to creating a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere for spectators, officials, VIPs and delegates, assisting with wayfinding, providing information and ensuring spectators have the best experience enjoying the sport.   

Access control   

This role is essential to efficient operations across the Championships. You’ll work alongside the Spectator Services team, directing athletes and crowds, answering questions, and keeping the flow smooth, all while enjoying the excitement of the Championships. 

Workforce Team   

Workforce are core to the successful operation of the championships, supporting all the other volunteers and event teams  ensuring that everyone has what they need to deliver the event. Workforce volunteers will be the first point of contact for the majority of volunteers and officials, supporting check-in and check-out, monitoring numbers throughout the day, conducting volunteer welfare checks, and filling in for understaffed teams where required. You'll provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all and ensure that everyone has a great experience supporting the Championships. 

Officials and technical roles   

Team London Volunteering will not be recruiting specific technical roles at this time. If you are an ITTF-accredited official, please contact Table Tennis England directly to explore opportunities to support the ITTF London 2026 event.
