Southall Gas Works public hearing
In his role of making strategic planning decisions for London, the Mayor may occasionally take over an application, therefore becoming the local planning authority. He must then hold a public hearing before deciding whether or not to grant planning permission.
In this instance, the Mayor took over the application for the redevelopment of Southall Gas Works.
Background to the public hearing
Ealing and Hillingdon Councils advised the Mayor they were both minded to refuse planning permission for Southall Gas Works. The Mayor notified both councils on 22 December 2009 that he would act as the local planning authority for the purposes of determining this planning application (under article 7 of the Mayor of London Order 2008 and the powers conferred by Section 2A of the 1990 Act).
The Ealing Council local planning authority ref number is P/2008/3981-S. The Hillingdon Council local planning authority ref number is 54814/APP/2009/430. The GLA reference is D&P 2310.
