Opportunity Area population
Who lives in London's Opportunity Areas?
London's Opportunity Areas (OAs) are a major source of brownfield land with significant capacity for new housing, commercial and other development linked to existing or potential improvements to public transport accessibility. Typically they can accommodate at least 5,000 jobs or 2,500 new homes or a combination of the two, along with other supporting facilities and infrastructure.
As part of the OA monitoring programme, this page provides information about population characteristics across London, and within OAs using the London Output Area Classification (LOAC).
It plots the built and population characteristics of all 2021 and 2011 Output Areas against the residential and mixed-use building footprint. The data is correct at the time of publication.
