MOPAC response:

 

1.The technology utilised

The technology used is Axon’s DIR (Digital Interview Recording), SaaS / Fully Managed Service. This is a secure Cloud Hosted suspect and witness interview recording solution providing fixed and mobile interviewing capabilities for the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).

2. Details of current contract(s)

The relevant contract award was approved in decision PCD 1018 which can be seen on the MOPAC website: https://www.london.gov.uk/programmes-strategies/mayors-office-policing-and-crime/governance-and-decision-making/mopac-decisions-0/digital-interview-recording-replacement-dvd-interview-recording

The current contract is for 4 years with two possible 1 year extensions, making a total possible duration of 6 years.

The MPS / Axon DIR contract was signed in December 2021 with the end date being 4 years from that date or up to 6 years from the contract date if both one year extensions are taken up.

The overall contact value is £7.35m over the full potential 6 years.

6. The person(s) responsible within the organisation for managing the operational delivery of interview recording equipment The new DIR solution is delivered by a team of dedicated staff within the MPS’s Digital Policing department in conjunction with approved MPS suppliers.
