London Health Board
What the Board does
The London Health Board (LHB) is a non-statutory group chaired by the Mayor of London comprising elected leaders and key London professional health leads. It was established in March 2015 and meets four times a year, one meeting of which will be given over to an annual conference.
The aim of the Board is to drive improvements in London's health, care and health inequalities where political engagement at this level can uniquely make a difference. The London Health Board seeks to add value to work at local and sub-regional levels in three ways:
- Championing and supporting the spread of good practice.
- Challenging national partners and London’s health and care leadership to deliver improved health and wellbeing and health and care services for Londoners.
- Supporting London’s shared ambition for health and care transformation and improvement including through delivering on the currently devolution MOU and exploring further devolution.
The Health and Care Partnership and London Health Board work is also underpinned by the London Health and Care Vision which sets out 10 key areas of joint work to improve the health of Londoners.

Board meetings
The London Health Board meets three times per year. The meetings are closed but are broadcast live so Londoners can listen in and find out what issues are being discussed and what partners across the Health and Care system are doing to support the health and wellbeing of Londoners. The annual conference is an opportunity for the health and care partners to come together and identify priority area for Londoners, celebrate achievements and pledge how they will support health and wellbeing across the capital.
