Better Futures programme
Better Futures UKSPF project closure
July 2023 – March 2025 update
The Better Futures UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) project was originally set up in 2017 under the European Regional Development Fund. The project drew on a well-established partnership of leading organisations in London’s public and private sectors to provide bespoke business support to London’s cleantech and everyday SMEs. The support provided helped to address London's sustainability challenges and looked to accelerate the pathway to Net Zero by supporting innovation in and for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
The programme provided direct support to Cleantech (or climate tech) SMEs from across London. The project also supported non-climate tech (everyday businesses) SMEs to innovate towards low carbon business models and adopt low carbon technologies to accelerate their emissions reductions.
The Better Futures UKSPF project has now closed.

Our vision for more sustainable businesses
The Mayor has been clear that London’s recovery from the pandemic must lead to a cleaner, fairer, more equal city with a renewed drive to tackle the climate and ecological emergencies, whilst also creating good quality jobs.
This includes a commitment to make London net zero by 2030.
The Mayor is working with London's businesses to help step up the fight against climate change, by supporting projects that will boost green jobs and tackle air pollution and the climate emergency.
What is Better Futures?
For the past 7 years, the Better Futures programme has supported London’s drive to achieve Net Zero by 2030.
Better Futures wants London to be a beacon of cleantech, low carbon and resource efficient industry. And we want to reward carbon cutting businesses.
We're providing support to eligible SMEs across the capital, who are seeking to innovate, grow and create jobs, promote diversity, bring new low carbon solutions to market and contribute towards helping to reduce London’s greenhouse gas emissions.
