Sunnyhill Primary School

Becoming a child- centred school

What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

We needed to develop consistency in a creative way, making sure that what we provided was developed collaboratively and of the highest quality.

What actions did you take?

-Established core values and a pupil-centric focus

-Looked at focusing on providing a curriculum that was fun, inspiring and appropriate with core skills and understanding at its heart

-Developed pupil leadership, our pupils are called upon to take the lead in the way the school develops

-Have developed devolved leadership- that what we do is truly collaborative, based on our own key skills and knowledge

-Developed a partnership with families, supporting them to support their children.

What were the outcomes?

We know what we do works, that all children make progress from their individual starting points.
