Improving outcomes for lower attaining children across the school

What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

Analysis of data showed that our lower attaining children, of which 75% are on the Pupil premium register, were not making as much progress as other groups of children.

What actions did you take?

We reviewed our tracking systems to ensure that we were able to identify all groups and individuals who were not making the expected progress. When these groups were identified we were able to set up targeted interventions to help them make accelerated progress. We also set up clubs before school and during the lunch hour, drawing on the staff's expertise to ensure they were effective.

What were the outcomes?

Our lower attaining children now make progress significantly above the national average.
