The London Borough of Harrow worked at developing and enhancing teacher skills through a model of partnership teaching with outstanding EAL specialists and consultants.
Securing Success non-EU EAL pupils
Securing Success aimed to improve literacy and academic English language and thus the overall attainment across the curriculum of non-EU EAL pupils who have low levels of English language skills.
Seven schools in Harrow worked together with Harrow Council to support 1,195 non-EU EAL pupils, by capacity building their teachers and developing innovative teaching methods.
Teachers believed that their confidence and competency significantly increased, and they are positive about the work carried out. Resources have been developed by teachers and consultants designed to support teachers in the delivery of the curriculum and to accelerate the attainment of EAL learners.
