Annual London Education Report 2017

Children at school

Key information

Publication type: General

Publication date:

London continues to celebrate success in education, thanks to the hard work of students, teachers, head-teachers and support staff. But there's still work to be done to make sure that:

  • early years education is more affordable and accessible to all parents
  • the growing number of children living in the city can be guaranteed a school place
  • young people leave school with essential qualifications, giving them more job opportunities (especially in science and technology)
  • students from all backgrounds can access education-employment opportunities
  • we can recruit and retain more teachers, particularly in leadership positions

The Mayor’s Annual Education Report sets out what strategies and programmes are needed for London to achieve these things and become a world-class education system.
