See how frontline practitioners are being trained in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help support young people.

Total investment: £10m

London's Violence Reduction Unit secured £10m investment from the Home Office and Youth Endowment Fund to deliver a new programme using the benefits of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as part of a high intensity intervention to 2,500 children in the greatest need of support.

In partnership with London Councils and the London Innovation and Improvement Alliance, qualified youth practitioners receive intensive training to deliver an intervention which has CBT at its core; targeting social anxiety, trauma, general anxiety or low mood oriented to support behavioural control.

The Your Choice programme builds on the existing therapeutic resources in multi-disciplinary adolescent services.

By making therapeutic activities more available in the community, the programme aims to engage children and young people who do not typically access mental health services in clinical settings. Your Choice addresses the under-representation of BAME, and particularly Black young people, in CAMHS provision and their over-representation in the youth justice system.
