Celebrating the Food Flagships
In March 2017, over 100 people came to City Hall to celebrate the success of the Food Flagship programme - making good healthy food the norm for everyone.
Rosie Boycott, former Chair of the London Food Board, hosted the day and council leaders, headteachers, school children and community groups spoke about their experiences over the past 2 years.
What they have achieved
Croydon and Lambeth have used Flagship funding to reach thousands of school children and their communities. Working directly with schools, communities and businesses has:
- helped improve the quality of food available to adults and children alike
- increased their understanding of food growing
- developed their practical cookery skills.
Check out the short films each Flagship borough have produced to showcase their work and the legacy it leaves...

Testing their success
We commissioned Prederi to look at what worked best for Croydon and Lambeth, so that we could share this knowledge with other organisations, boroughs and cities.
The report includes:
- how they formed partnerships to reach schools and communities
- the challenges they faced and how they overcame them
- the impact of local Food Flagship projects on borough policies/priorities
