Who we are
Elizabeth House is a multi-purpose community centre rooted in a diverse area of Islington, North London. As a community space and frontline service provider, our mission is to improve lives, connect people and create opportunities for everyone. Our vision is to build a resilient and strong community.
We offer a weekly programme of services and activities for our whole community. We work with people to deliver activities that respond to local needs, reach some of the most under-represented groups and connect people to each other and different opportunities.
Every day of the week, Elizabeth House is open and offers a rich programme of activities for everyone, as well as space for community groups and local residents.
Words and portraits of the community
When people walk through our doors, things happen: connections are made, changes are possible, wellbeing is improved, skills are developed and support is provided. All the people at Elizabeth House make individual lives better and our wider community strong.
In this video, you will meet some community members: the children from the after school club and holiday playscheme, as well as older residents sharing their weekly lunch and chair yoga class.
Elizabeth House’s strong and connected community.
The changes we would like to see
Our community spaces are vital assets for local residents but buildings need regular investment to keep them opened and safe.
Accessing a national or London-wide programme for capital funding to invest in these critical ‘real life’ resources would be so beneficial considering how many Londoners access them every day, also as warm or cool places.
