Your accreditation journey

Step one

Explore the pillars of good work

Learn more about what good work looks like and how fair pay, engagement and wellbeing, skills and progression and inclusive recruitment can support business growth.

You can also join one of our monthly Discovery Sessions to learn more about the Good Work Standard and application process.

Step two

Read our full guidance and explore resources to improve your practices

The guidance provides a detailed overview of the criteria that makes up the Good Work Standard and how these are assessed. Additional resources are provided to help you put good employment practices into action and work towards the accreditation.

Please note that all employers must be accredited with the Living Wage Foundation in order to become Good Work Standard employers. At this stage, we'd recommend visiting the Living Wage Foundation and getting your accreditation in place.

Step three

Complete the online self-assessment

Our online self-assessment application form starts with a Foundation checklist of minimum legal and basic requirements, then guides employers through both the Achievement and Excellence levels of accreditation. You self-assess your current practices against the Standard's criteria to see if you are meeting our benchmark for accreditation.

Step four

Provide a sampling of evidence

A member of the team will be in touch to progress your application and request a small sampling of evidence to demonstrate your answers. This might include a copy of your Employee Handbook or a sampling of your policies.

Step five

Good Work Standard panel review

Once your evidence has been finalised, the team will take your application to our Good Work Standard panel for a final review and accreditation. Panels take place every 6 weeks.

Step six

Receive your accreditation

Celebrate your achievement! You'll receive a plaque for your workplace, social media assets and a communications pack and invitations to our events and opportunities. Your accreditation lasts for four years, with an annual check-in.
