Loneliness and isolation
The challenge
The Mayor is looking for innovators to make London the most socially-integrated city in the world.
Winners and finalists
Each team will receive £10,000 and the opportunity develop their proposal with others – including councils, government agencies, BIDs and charities – to develop their solution. They’ll also receive specialised support in service design, pitch coaching, data usage, navigating government procurement processes and more.
At the end of the first phase, the judges will review each team’s progress and choose one winner in each challenge, to be awarded £40,000 each and the chance to implement their solution.
BuddyHub is a friendship club offering a personalised service to create a new social circle, which they call a Friendship Wheel, in which they carefully match seniors with three Buddies, who share their interests, and who live no more than a 30 minute walk or cycle ride away. They plan to apply technology to create a state-of-the-art befriending type service to significantly expand provision in Hackney
