Digital connectivity
Connected London improves gigabit connectivity across the city by working with boroughs and telecommunications providers.
Since 2017 digital connectivity in London has vastly improved from 4 per cent of the city had gigabit speeds to 88 per cent and all new developments are required to have a full fibre connection from now on.
City data
Data for London is rebuilding the London Datastore to enhance access to and use of data for the benefit of the city and its residents. It is steered by the Data for London Advisory Board.
Important London data services delivered by the platform are the Planning Datahub, the Infrastructure Mapping Application and the Cultural Infrastructure Map.
Open innovation
Challenge LDN is a city open innovation service for impactful solutions to city problems with the tech sector.
Since 2018 there have been 24 open innovation challenges delivered and 76 projects/pilots supported and 38 challenge winners.
Digital inclusion
The Digital Access for All mission following the pandemic aims to ensure every Londoner is to have access to good connectivity, basic digital skills and the device or support they need to be online by 2025.
Participation
Talk London - often referred to as City Hall's online community - is a civic engagement platform launched by the Mayor of London in 2012.
Talk London helps City Hall policy teams engage with Londoners through surveys, discussions and idea generation activities. Bringing Londoners’ voices into City Hall helps policy teams make better policies and programmes.
Ethics
London’s Emerging Technology Charter sets practical and ethical guidance on the trialling and deployment of smart technologies in the city.
Collaborations
The London Office of Technology and Innovation (LOTI), based at London Councils, fosters joint innovation projects with boroughs, with a track record of over 60 projects since 2019.
